Marika Colasanto was born in Finale Ligure and begun her vocal studies from an early age with teacher Alessandra Brunengo in Imperia, immediately getting recognition at national vocal competitions (Nastro D'argento in Asti, Protagonista del Festival di Sanremo, TV talent show Fantastica, Una Nota per Amica, best voice prize at the Summer Show, etc).
After a Scientific Degree, attracted by the Opera world, in 2007 she enters the Conservatorio Niccolò Paganini in Genoa, and graduates with top marks in September 2012, under the guidance of mezzosoprano Maria Trabucco. While studying, she is chosen to represent the School at the prestigious Premio Nazionale delle Arti. After the Diploma, international mezzosoprano Gloria Scalchi invites her to join the Classe di Perfezionamento for two more years. She performs in prime-time television shows (I Raccomandati, Mezzogiorno in famiglia) on the RAI national channels.
At the same time she starts working on her stage confidence playing leading roles in an Operetta Highlights production which tours the major cities in Piemonte. She is Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) in Bosco Marengo, and Bess (Porgy and Bess) under the baton of M° Gian Marco Bosio. The same production was revived later at the Auditorium Dolci Terre in Novi Ligure for the Festival Marenco.
The Italian Institute of Culture in Morocco invites her for two recitals: the first in the Marrakech Theatre, the second at the Embassy in Casablanca. She is part of the production of the show Telecamere su...Verdi! created, written and directed by Roberto Iovino and Andrea Nicolini. The performances take place in the E.Montale auditorium in Genoa and in the Shalom theatre in Empoli.
At the T.O.S.C.A. Competition, she wins the very ambitious prize of a scholarship for a masterclass with Mariella Devia; since then, Marika has started a process of vocal refiniment with the great international star. She is again Cherubino at the Teatro Gustavo Modena in Genoa, Norina for the Sorrisi Lirici Festival in Diano Marina and covers the leading role in Alberto Caruso's Piccolo Principe for the world premiere at the Teatro Carignano in Torino. Then, she is in Saint-Malo for the International Festival Si tous les Ports du Monde.
Immediately afterwards, she is chosen to take part in the LTL Opera Studio as Valencienne - La Vedova Allegra (F.Lehár) – under Maestro Nicola Paszkowski, Stage Director Fabio Sparvoli and Choreographer Alessandra Panzavolta. The show opens in Lucca (Teatro del Giglio), then in Pisa (Teatro Verdi) and Livorno (Teatro Goldoni).
On the concert stage, she is the solo soprano for two concerts in the series I Concerti Spirituali del Gonfalone, under the guidance of M°Marco Zambelli; at the program, G.F.Handel's Dixit Dominus and the Ode for the birthday of Queen Anne and A.Vivaldi's Gloria. With M° Zambelli, she also has an activity as a Duo.
Her debut in a Fondazione Lirica takes place at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, again A.Vivaldi's Gloria, for the opening concert of Congresso Eucaristico Nazionale 2016. For the same Fondazione, she has also sung Tebaldo in G.Verdi's Don Carlo, with an international cast under the baton of M° Valerio Galli.
Since 2022, she is the Artistic Director of Masterclass a Cairo. This masterclass is for young singers from all over the world and the teachers involved are famous artists - like the Tenor Charles Castronovo, the M° Marco Zambelli etc.
In the occasion of the public presentation of musicologist Davide Mingozzi’s book “Il Teatro a Genova a fine Settecento”, she has performed a selection of unpublished arias from Gnecco, Isola, Degola and Cerro on the stage of Teatro Carlo Felice. She has, also, been chosen by the same Genovese Fondazione Lirica to represent Liguria at the Opening Concert of the 2nd Festival delle Regioni at the RAI Auditorium in Turin.
Among other operatic roles, we can also mention Poppea, Pamina and Frasquita in a Carmen conducted by M°Attilio Tomasello at the Audi Arena in Györ (Hungary).
She is Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) in Rome.
In 2023, she is awarded the 3rd Prize both at the Enzo Sordello at the Città di Monterosso - Cinque Terre International Singing Competitions.
